Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir Issues New Warning to India, Brands Islamabad a “Net Regional Stabiliser” # World news # # Pakistan news#

Army Chief Marshal Asim Munir.

Karachi, June 29, 2025 — Addressing cadets at the Pakistan Naval Academy, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir escalated rhetoric against India yet again. He accused New Delhi of launching two “unprovoked” military attacks, labeling them a “troubling absence of strategic foresight” .

Munir pledged a “swift and befitting response” to any future aggression, stressing that while Pakistan had demonstrated “restraint and maturity,” it remained fully prepared to defend itself .

He also reaffirmed Pakistan's role as a “net regional stabiliser,” arguing that Islamabad’s responses to Indian hostility reaffirm its commitment to regional peace.

Highlighting Kashmir, Munir echoed the line that it is Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” reaffirming the country's unwavering support for a UN-backed resolution and urging Pakistanis to remember the sacrifices of Kashmiris under Indian rule.

🔍 Context & Pakistan’s Latest Posture

  • Kashmir rhetoric & “legitimate struggle”: Munir openly endorsed Kashmir-centric messaging, calling resistance a “legitimate struggle” and repeating the high-impact “jugular vein” metaphor stemming from the Pahalgam attack .

  • India’s diplomatic pushback: India’s Ministry of External Affairs dismissed the Pakistani claims as “baseless” and stated that such statements “deserve contempt,” rejecting any notion of Indian responsibility in regional instability .Legacy of recent escalation: These new threats come in the wake of the May 7–10 military exchanges (including Operation Sindoor), following a brutal terrorist strike in Pahalgam on April 22. India had responded by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty.

  • Global framing for Pakistan: Internally, Pakistan is projecting itself as a responsible force amid wider regional crises—despite global criticism of proxy groups. Notably, Lord Field Marshal Munir met with  President Trump in Washington last month, where Trump praised Pakistan for helping prevent a broader war with India. That meeting is being framed as a diplomatic win, reinforcing Pakistan’s image as a regional stabiliser.

📢 Bottom Line:

Munir’s latest address marks yet another hardening of Pakistan’s military tone toward India, pairing tough threats with assertive regional self-branding. But while Pakistan highlights its “net stabiliser” role, India continues to refute all accusations, brushing them aside as attempts at obfuscation .

This new wave of rhetoric could intensify the rhetoric-anxiety cycle in the subcontinent—especially with Kashmir again headline-ready and vital treaties under strain.
